Black Beans and Rice Wholesome & Delicious

Main Ingredients

Black beans Basmati rice Veggies Aromatics Spices Oil

Prep work

Wash the basmati rice a few times and soak it. Chop the veggies and keep them aside. Cook black beans and drain water from them.

Step 1

Heat a thick-bottomed pot. Add oil, sliced onions, and bay leaves.

Step 2

Add slit green chili and chopped veggies. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 3

Add ground cumin, coriander powder, garam masala powder (optional), and salt. Stir well.

Step 4

Add black beans and water. Mix it together.

Step 5

Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Cook over medium heat.

Step 6

Once most of the water is absorbed, reduce the heat to low and continue cooking.

Step 7

When it's done to your liking, remove from heat and cover with a lid. Let it sit for 10 minutes and then fluff the rice.
