Chana Masala Curry Vegan & Gluten-free

Prep work

Cook the chickpeas and keep them aside. 

Finely chop the onions, tomatoes.

You can use canned chickpeas also. Rinse them well and keep aside.

Step 1

Heat a sturdy pan or pot. Once it's hot, add oil, bay leaf, cumin seeds, and fresh ginger paste.

Step 2

When the cumin seeds start popping, put in chopped onion and cook them for 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 3

Add tomato purée and cook it on medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add spice powders to this cooked tomato mix and stir it well.

Step 5

Add cooked chickpeas and mix them so the tomato mix covers them well.

Step 6

Now, add water to this chickpea and tomato curry.

Step 7

Mix it well and let the chickpea curry simmer on medium heat for about 8 to 10 minutes.

Top the curry with chopped coriander leaves. Your delicious Indian chickpea masala curry is ready to be served with basmati rice and naan  bread.
