Prep work

Carefully pluck the basil leaves from the stems. Gently rinse them in the water a couple of times and pat them dry using a clean towel.

Prep the basil leaves and dry them thoroughly.

Take a food processor. Put in almonds or cashews, garlic, black pepper, salt, a drizzle of olive oil, and a squeeze of lime juice. Blend it, and this makes the base of your pesto.
