Peel the raw banana or aratikaya with a peeler and grate it. You need not remove the complete skin of the banana as the peel is more nutritious. Just peel the green layer on the top.
Slice the onions lengthwise and keep them ready.
Heat a pan and add oil to it.
Once it is hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chili, and green chili.
Once the seeds start spluttering, add sliced onion. Let them fry for a couple of minutes.
To this onion mixture, add grated raw banana, salt, coriander seeds powder, and turmeric powder.
Mix it well so that the grated raw banana is coated well with spices and onion mixture.
On a medium flame let it cook for 5 minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan if it sticks. After 5 minutes, it will be like this.
Cook it for 4 to 5 more minutes and once the raw banana is cooked well, add grated coconut powder.
Mix it well and dish out the plantain curry. Serve it with hot rice or phulka or any Indian flatbread.
