While a steaming bowl of dal is wonderful with rice, I think it shines even more when paired with Indian flatbreads, soft chapatis, flaky parathas, or indulgent naans. Together, they make a meal that feels complete and satisfying.

    In this post, I'm sharing 10 essential dal recipes for Indian flatbreads, quick weeknight dals, hearty leafy dals, and robust mixed lentil curries that pair perfectly with chapati, naan, or paratha.
